What is an STD/STI?
An STD or STI is a disease or infection that can be viral or non-viral and is primarily passed from one person to another during sexual activity such as vaginal, oral, or anal sex. A common myth is that using a condom will provide you protection from both pregnancy and STDs/STIs. This is false.
What about non-viral STDs?
Non-viral STDs like Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and Trichomoniasis can be diagnosed and treated. Portico can do this free of charge.
What about virals STDs?
Viral STDs are not treatable, meaning they may be with you for life. However, some of the symptoms of viral STDs may be treated. A registered nurse can discuss these symptoms and treatments with you.
Sexually Transmitted Infections are concerning and often present without symptoms. If you have been sexually active and would like to know your health status, our registered nurses are here to help with your free STD/STI testing and treatment.

Using a condom doesn’t provide you 100% protection against STDs.
What happens if I don’t want to get tested?
Without treatment, STIs can lead to significant health problems. Getting tested is relatively easy and an important part of taking care of your sexual health.
